I at first thought of investigating the meaning of the colours of the Pillars. They have always intrigued me, the colours: green, light blue, grey, dark blue,red, black and gold being not pure but secondary, often pastel shaded as well as primary blues and no colours in black and grey.  An Attempt to associate the light and dark Pillars with Craft and the red with chapter can be made but they don't coincide with the candidate's progress. A paper given by Michael Stayt in 2010 produced some explanations which seem to rather stretch credulity and in an Irish Lodge of Research transaction of 1923 there is reference to a different sequence of colours, namely: green, blue, purple, crimson, Scarlet, black and white.
